Open the domain detail page of the .AU domain you wish to update and request an update to the new registrant contact. For a detailed description on how to start the domain update process, See the ➤ Update domain(s) KB-article.

🧩 Contact properties

To add contact properties for .AU (RegistryAU) to a contact, go to the ➤ Contact properties KB-article and follow the instructions up until step #2. Once you select the .AU (RegistryAU) contact properties option, the fields shown below appear.

Company reg. number (COMPANY-NUMBER): Company registration number of the registrant organisation.
  • Use the official registration number issued by the relevant corporate or business registry.
  • Applies to companies and other registered organisations.

⚠️ Ensure the company registration number corresponds to the legal entity. Incorrect or inconsistent data may affect the registrant’s eligibility under .AU rules.

ID card no. (IDCARD-OR-PASSPORT-NUMBER): Identification number for the registrant (individuals).
  • Provide the number from a valid ID document (for example passport or national ID).
  • Used primarily when the registrant is an individual (citizen or resident).

⚠️ Use only valid identification details belonging to the registrant. Inaccurate information may prevent verification of eligibility.

.AU domain relation (AU-DOMAIN-RELATION): Describes how the domain name relates to the registrant.
  • 1 – Exact match / acronym / abbreviation of the registrant’s company, trading name, organisation/association name or trademark.
  • 2 – Closely and substantially connected to the registrant (for example products, services, events or initiatives of the registrant).

⚠️ The selected domain relation must accurately represent the registrant’s connection to the domain name, as required under .AU eligibility policy.

Trademark name (TRADEMARK-NAME): Name of the trademark used as the basis for eligibility (if applicable).
  • Enter the official trademark name as recorded with the trademark office.
  • Used when the registrant relies on trademark rights to meet .AU eligibility requirements.

⚠️ When eligibility is based on trademark rights, the trademark name must match the official record held by the relevant trademark authority.

.AU identification type (AU-DOMAIN-IDTYPE): Type of identification used for the registrant.
  • ABN – Australian Business Number.
  • ACN – Australian Company Number.
  • ARBN – Australian Registered Body Number.
  • OTHER – Other identification type (for example foreign registration where allowed).

⚠️ The identification type must correspond to the registrant’s legal details. Mismatched or incorrect information can result in eligibility failure.

Trademark number (TRADEMARK-NUMBER): Registration or application number of the trademark (if applicable).
  • Enter the official trademark number issued by the trademark authority.
  • Used together with TRADEMARK-NAME when eligibility is based on trademark rights.

⚠️ Trademark numbers must be valid and associated with the registrant or authorised holder. Incorrect data may impact eligibility or rights validation.
