Contact Requirements

Create

Create a contact with the registrant's contact data. For instructions on how to create a contact, go to the Create a new contact knowledgebase article.

Add contact properties for .PT (DnsPt) to the Registrant contact. For instructions on adding contact properties for .PT to a contact, go to the  Add properties section of this knowledge base article.

Request the create through our portal. For instructions on requesting a create, go to the Create domain(s) knowledge base article.

Once requested, the create will complete real-time.

After a domain is successfully created, the registry sends a confirmation email to the registrant's email address. This email includes a link to create an account with DnsPt if the registrant does not already have access to the DnsPt reserved area. The DnsPt reserved area is used to perform registrant changes and other related actions. It is recommended that the registrant creates an account user if they do not yet have access to this area. For instructions on creating an account user with DnsPt, go to the Create DnsPt reserved area account user section of this knowledge base article.


⚠️
Important:

After a domain is successfully created and the registry suspects incorrect registrant details have been used during a create, the registrant will receive an email from request@dns.pt with instructions to provide documentation to verify their identity.

If the registrant does not provide supporting documentation within 2 days of receiving the email, the domain will be deleted by the registry without exception.

Transfer in

Request the transfer through our portal. For instructions on requesting a transfer, go to the Transfer domain(s) knowledge base article.

When the transfer is requested without a registrant change, it will be completed real-time.

When the transfer is requested with a registrant change, it can take up to a maximum of 9 days until the transfer completes.

⚠️
Important:
If a registrant change is included in the transfer, the new registrant has to approve the registrant change through the portal of DNSPT, the Portuguese domain registry. When the new registrant does not approve the registrant change, the transfer will be auto-completed after 9 days with an auto handle containing the current registrant details.

Registrant change

Create a contact with the registrant contact data in it. For instructions on how to create a contact, go to the Create a new contact knowledgebase article.

Add contact properties for .PT (DnsPt) to the Registrant contact. For instructions on adding contact properties for .PT to a contact, go to the Add properties section of this knowledge base article.

Request an update to the new registrant contact for the domain you wish to perform a registrant change for. For instructions on how to start the domain update process, go the Update domain(s) knowledge base article.

Once requested, the new registrant will receive an email to accept the registrant change + the DnsPt personal data processing & responsibility agreements.
⚠️   An account user for the DnsPt reserved area must be created/exist for the new registrant before they can accept the registrant change. A second email is sent to the new registrant, which includes a link to create this account. For instructions on creating an account user, go to the Create DnsPt reserved area account user section of this knowledge base article ⚠️

Have the new registrant accept the responsibility statement and data processing agreement.

Once the new registrant accepts the registrant change, it will be completed instantly. Both the new and old registrants will be notified through email upon completion of the registrant change.
⚠️  The registrant change can take up to 9 days to complete in your Realtime Register account as well. This is because the Registry has not yet fully implemented EPP polling for .PT ⚠️

Transfer out

Make sure no server or client transfer prohibited status is active for the domain to be transferred.

To start the outgoing transfer, contact the gaining registrar for information on their incoming transfer procedure.

Contact properties

To add contact properties for .PT (DnsPt) to a contact, go to the Contact properties knowledge base article and follow the instructions up until step #2. Once you've selected the .PT (DnsPt) contact properties option, the below options will show up on screen;

Vat number (mandatory): In this field, provide the VAT number for Portuguese entities, a unique identifier for others.

Registration goal (optional): In this field, provide the registration goal for the domain.

Registration Goal (optional): In this field, provide the registration goal if you've provided the registration goal as 'Other' from the dropdown list.

Click 'Save properties' to confirm adding properties to the contact. Once saved, you can use this contact as the registrant contact for creating/transferring in .PT domains.

Create a DnsPt reserved area account user

Once the registrant receives an email from DnsPt with instructions to create an account user for the registry reserved area, have them click the link in the email and create an account user using the link in the email, and have the registrant follow the instructions below.

All the contact information provided for the account user must exactly match the contact information provided in the Realtime Register contact handle linked to the account user

Once you click the link in the they will be directed to the page below to submit all their contact information.

A message indicating that contact data has been saved will be displayed. When the registrant clicks next, they'll be directed back to the login page.
⚠️  The account user must confirm their registration by email before logging in ⚠️

Have the registrant click the link in the email to confirm the registration of the account user.

On the page that opens, the registration is confirmed, click next to be directed back to the login page.

You can now login to the reserved area with your newly created account user.
