🧩 Contact properties

To add contact properties for .TR (RegistryTR) to a contact, go to the ➤ Contact properties KB-article and follow the instructions up until step #2. Once you've selected the .TR (RegistryTR) contact properties option, the fields shown in the screenshot below will appear.

ID card no. (IDCARD-OR-PASSPORT-NUMBER): In this field, provide the Turkish Republic Identification Number belonging to the registrant (for Turkish citizens/residents).
⚠️ The ID card number is only required for Turkish citizens or residents. It is an 11-digit unique personal identification number that is also used as the tax identification number.
‼️For non-Turkish individuals or legal entities, this field can be left empty.

Tax Office (TAX-OFFICE): In this field, provide the name of the tax office that issued the registrant’s tax number.
⚠️ This field is mandatory for all companies.

Tax Number: In this field, provide the Tax Number belonging to the registrant.

Click “Save properties” to confirm adding properties to the contact. Once saved, you can use this contact as the registrant contact for creating or transferring in .TR domains.

🇹🇷 Eligibility & Allocation requirements

‼️Please note that if registrant data or the chosen domain name does not meet the .TR eligibility and allocation requirements, the registry may reject the request or place the domain in a suspended state until the requirements are met.‼️

  • Natural persons and legal entities that meet the TRABİS eligibility rules.
  • Both Turkish and foreign entities may register, subject to naming and documentation rules.
General-purpose namespace with stricter checks for certain names (see financial terms below).
Allocation
  • Domain name must be consistent with the registrant’s name, brand, activities or planned use.
  • For names that contain restricted financial terms (for example bank/banka, finance, leasing, factoring):
    – The domain must match or be a very clear representation of the licensed bank/institution’s legal name or registered trademark.
    – Additional documents from BRSA/CMB are required (see 📘 Document requirements).
Financial/banking names are tightly controlled and may be allocated only after regulator checks.

    – May only be allocated to institutions that are duly licensed by the relevant regulator (BRSA/CMB).
    – The domain must clearly match the licensed institution’s company/bank name or registered mark.
    – Supporting documents are required (see 📘 Document requirements).
Focus on business and information use. Financial terms are subject to additional scrutiny.

  • In some cases, individuals or organisations using .TEL.TR in connection with communication services, subject to registry approval.

    • a phone number, communication service or brand operated by the registrant, or
    • a telecom-related product or platform.
  • Use that misleads users about the identity of the communication provider is not allowed.
Registry may apply additional checks for consumer protection reasons.

⚖️ Naming policy – restricted / illegal terms

‼️TRABİS and the Turkish authorities maintain internal lists of domain names that are prohibited (TAKAL) or highly restricted (TAKİL). Names that are contrary to Turkish law, public order, national security, general morals, health or safety can be blocked, refused or revoked, even if they are technically available for registration.‼️

The examples below are based on Turkish domain and content rules and are intended as guidance. They do not represent a complete or official list of banned terms. Final decisions are always made by TRABİS/BTK and the competent authorities.

Religion-related terms

For borderline cases, advise the registrant to choose a neutral name that does not include explicit religious, substance-related or adult keywords, or terms that could be interpreted as official, national, emergency or otherwise highly sensitive. Be aware that TRABİS/BTK and other authorities always have the final say on whether a name can be registered or kept active.
