Create

Create a contact with the registrant's contact data. For instructions on how to create a contact, go to the Create a new contact knowledgebase article.

Add contact properties for .TR (RegistryTR) to the Registrant contact. For instructions on adding contact properties for .TR to a contact, go to the  Add properties section of this knowledge base article.

Request the create through our portal. For instructions on requesting a create, go to the Create domain(s) knowledge base article.

Once requested, the create will complete real-time.

Transfer in

Request the transfer through our portal. For instructions on requesting a transfer, go to the Transfer domain(s) knowledge base article.

Once requested, the transfer will be completed in 24.

Transfer out

Make sure no server or client transfer prohibited status is active for the domain to be transferred.

To start the outgoing transfer, contact the gaining registrar for information on their incoming transfer procedure.

Contact properties

To add contact properties for .TR (RegistryTR) to a contact, go to the Contact properties knowledge base article and follow the instructions up until step #2. Once you've selected the .TR (RegistryTR) contact properties option, the below options will show up on screen;

ID card no. number (IDCARD-OR-PASSPORT-NUMBER): In this field, provide the Turkish Citizen number belonging to the registrant

Important:
  • The ID card no. property is only required for Turkish citizens/residents. If the registrant is a natural person outside of Turkey or a company, this field may be ignored.
  • 11-digit number with a specific format, where the first digit cannot be zero. The number is a unique personal identification number for Turkish citizens and is also used as the tax ID number (TIN) for both citizens and foreigners residing in Turkey.

Tax Office (TAX-OFFICE): In this field, provide the name of the tax office that provided the tax number

Registration Goal (optional): In this field, provide the registration goal if you've provided the registration goal as 'Other' from the dropdown list.

Click 'Save properties' to confirm adding properties to the contact. Once saved, you can use this contact as the registrant contact for creating/transferring in .TR domains.

🇹🇷 Naming policy

1️⃣ Restricted names

The following names may only be allocated under .gov.tr. Applications for other subdomains require a public-benefit assessment:

  • Turkiye / Türkiye
  • Ataturk / Atatürk
  • Turk / Türk
  • Republic of Turkey
  • T.C.
  • Any related or derivative names
2️⃣ Province & district allocations

The following can be allocated under .gov.tr:

  • Province names → allocated to provincial governorships
  • District names → allocated to district governorships
  • Conflicting requests follow a first-come, first-served rule
3️⃣ Public-benefit evaluation

For province or district names requested under subdomains other than .gov.tr, allocation depends on public-benefit evaluation.

4️⃣ DETSİS institutional names

Domain names containing the full names or known abbreviations of public institutions listed in DETSİS may only be allocated to the relevant institution.

  • Applications from other parties require Agency evaluation
5️⃣ CMB-licensed institutions

Domain names containing names of Capital Markets Board (CMB)–licensed investment institutions may only be allocated to those institutions.

6️⃣ BRSA-licensed institutions

Domain names containing the names of BRSA-licensed financial institutions may only be allocated to:

  • Banks
  • Financial leasing companies
  • Factoring companies
  • Financing companies
  • Financial holding companies
  • Asset management companies
  • Foreign bank representative offices in Turkey
  • Organizations licensed under Banking Cards & Credit Law No. 5654
7️⃣ Restricted financial terms

The following terms may only be allocated to the institutions listed under rules 5 and 6:

  • finance
  • financing
  • bank / banka
  • lease / leasing
  • finansalkiralama
  • factoring

Other applicants require Agency evaluation.

8️⃣ Other restricted names

For all other restricted names, eligibility is based on:

  • Intended use of the domain name
  • Public-benefit contribution
  • Appropriate subdomain placement

1️⃣ Articles 4/5/6 from the naming policy
  • Activity permit from SPK (CMB) or BRSA
  • IAA request letter signed by an authorized representative
  • Proof of representation authority for the transaction
2️⃣ Articles 4/3/7 & non-institution applicants from the naming policy
  • A declaration of intended domain use
  • Supporting information and documentation
3️⃣ WHOIS check to determine the need for documents
