📤 Transfer out

To transfer out a .BE domain, using an authcode is optional. For the exact transfer procedure of the gaining registrar, have the registrant contact their new provider.

⚠️
Important:
An authcode can be requested a maximum of 4 times for .BE domains. Once the maximum of 4 requests has been reached, requesting an authcode will be blocked by DNS Belgium for security reasons.
1
To retrieve the authcode, go to the DNS Belgium website and request the authcode.

2
The authcode has now been sent to the registrant email address and can be used to transfer the domain to another registrar.

✅ Registrant verification

After a .BE domain has been created, DNS Belgium requires the registrant to verify their contact details. The verification is completed directly with DNS Belgium via the link in their email.

⚠️
Important:
DNS Belgium’s general terms and conditions require the registrant to have a working email address and to keep their contact data up to date in the .BE registration system. If the registrant does not complete verification or if DNS Belgium has serious doubts about the accuracy of the contact data, the domain name can be suspended or the registration can be terminated by DNS Belgium in line with their terms and conditions.
1
Once the create has been completed, the registrant will receive an email from DNS Belgium with instructions to verify their contact details. Have the registrant click the link in the email to start the registrant verification with DNS Belgium.

2
Once the validation page has opened, have the registrant click “Start verification”.

3
Have the registrant check their data. If all information is correct and valid, have the registrant submit their nationality and confirm they are authorised to verify the registrant contact details, then have the registrant click “Go to verification”.
⚠️
Important:
If there are any mismatches in the contact data, have the registrant provide the correct data and update the domain or registrant contact in our systems, depending on which information is incorrect. Once the data have been updated, the registrant can restart the verification flow from the email they received from DNS Belgium.

4
Have the registrant select the preferred identification method by clicking “Continue” for the preferred option.
⚠️
Important:
The available verification methods depend on the country of the registrant’s address.
Registrants from Belgium

For registrants with a registered address in Belgium, the verification methods are itsme, eID or uploading identity documents directly with DNS Belgium.

Registrants from the Netherlands

For registrants with a registered address in the Netherlands, the verification methods are iDIN or uploading identity documents directly with DNS Belgium.

Other registrants

For other registrants, the verification methods are Onfido or uploading identity documents directly with DNS Belgium.

5
Information on which documents are required is shown on this page. Have the registrant prepare the correct set of documents and click “Continue”. On the next page, provide the requested documents and have the registrant click “Send”.

6
Once the documents have been sent, a message indicating the upload was successful will be displayed and the registrant will receive an email confirming that the validation documents were uploaded successfully.

7
Once the validation is completed by DNS Belgium, the registrant will be informed through email and no further action is required.

8
The registrant has now successfully completed registrant verification.
⚠️
Important:
If the registrant email address is not functional (for example, bounces or is no longer in use), update the registrant email address to a functional address with a contact update first. For a detailed description on updating a contact through our portal, See the ➤ Update contact KB-article.
The email address stored in DNS Belgium’s system is used for all official communication (including transfer codes and verification notices), so it must always remain accurate and up to date.

🛑 Revoke/bad WHOIS procedure

If DNS Belgium identifies a .BE domain with incorrect or incomplete registrant data, the registrar and registrant will be notified and a revocation process is triggered. During this process the domain cannot be transferred to another registrar. If this procedure is not acted upon, DNS Belgium will remove the name servers and eventually revoke the domain.

⚠️
Important:
• The domain is locked for transfers during the revocation process.
• Our support department will contact you through email when such a case arises.
• Once received, the registrant has 14 days to update the data that has been flagged as incorrect by DNS Belgium. During this period, the domain remains active but flagged.
28 days after the first notification of incorrect registrant data without any corrective action, the domain is placed in Redemption by DNS Belgium.
1
Our support staff and the registrant are contacted by DNS Belgium through email, stating that the registrant contact details are incorrect or incomplete. Our support department will contact you as our reseller directly as well with the same information, requesting that you provide correct information.

2
Create a contact with the correct registrant contact data in it and provide this contact in a reply to the email our support staff has notified you in about the mandatory data correction. For a detailed description on how to create a contact, See the ➤ Create a new contact KB-article.
3
After 14 days from initial notification (and if no update has been made), DNS Belgium removes the domain’s name servers so the domain stops working.
4
If the data remains incorrect for another 14 days (i.e., 28 days total from initial contact), DNS Belgium revokes the domain and the domain will be placed in Redemption.
5
Our support staff will confirm through email once the data has been corrected. Once this is done, the revocation procedure has been completed and no further action is required.
