PID number

To obtain a valid PID number to use for .NO domain registrations, follow the procedure below.

To add additional properties to a registrant contact for .NO domains, a PID number (Personal Identifier number) is necessary to request an applicant declaration and to as add additional properties to the registrant contact.

Take note: the PID-number only is necessary for domain registrations registered on individual (natural person) registrant data. Norwegian companies are obliged to use their Norwegian company number instead of a PID number.

  • Open your browser and navigate to the Norid PID generator website. You'll be directed to the page below (keep in mind that the images below are from an exact copy of the live environment, only the live environment is detailed in purple). Read the terms and conditions, accept them, and click next.

  • Ack the captcha and click next.

  • Submit the information that is requested and click next.

Take note: The information you submit has to be correct and valid, otherwise, you will not be able to request a PID number. Norid checks the data and does not accept false or incorrect data.

  • Once submitted and if correct, you'll be directed to the page below. Optionally you can have the PID number sent to an email address of your choice.

  • You have now successfully requested a PID number to use for registering .NO domains.

Applicant declaration

To obtain an applicant declaration to register .NO domains, follow the procedure below.

To add additional properties to a registrant contact for .NO, an applicant declaration needs to be requested with Norid on which information is detailed that you will need to add to the registrant contact. Instruct the registrant to navigate to https://samtykke.norid.no/en/form1 and request the applicant declaration. The registrant will be directed to the page below (keep in mind that the images below are from an exact copy of the live environment, only the live environment is detailed in purple).

  • First off, read the conditions that you're about to accept and select whether you're applying as an organization or individual person. Then follow the instructions applicable for the type registrant that is about to register a .NO domain.

Individual (Natural person)

  • After selecting the individual person option, you'll be directed to the page below. Submit the requested information (PID-number and domains) and click continue. For more information on obtaining a valid PID number, check the PID-number section of this knowledge base article.

Take note: A maximum of 10 domains can be registered under one personal identifier (PID).

  • Once submitted, you'll be directed to the page below. Submit the registrant name, accept the conditions in the applicant declaration and click continue.

Take note: The registrant name has to be an exact match to the name that is connected to the PID-number submitted earlier.

  • Now either download the applicant declaration or have it sent to an email address of your preference.

  • You have now successfully requested an applicant declaration for a natural person. The information on the applicant declaration is used in the additional properties of the registrant contact you're going to use to register the .NO domains you submitted along with the PID-number earlier.

Organizations

  • After selecting the organization option, you'll be directed to the page below. Submit the requested information (9 digit Norwegian organization number and domains) and click continue.

Take note: A maximum of 10 domains can be registered for a single organization.

  • Once submitted, you'll be directed to the page below. Submit the name of an authorized person for the company you're requesting the applicant declaration for, accept the conditions in the applicant declaration and click continue.

  • Now either download the applicant declaration or have it sent to an email address of your preference.

  • You have now successfully requested an applicant declaration for an organization. The information on the applicant declaration is used in the additional properties of the registrant contact you're going to use to register the .NO domains you submitted along with the PID-number earlier.

Add Properties

In order to add properties for .NO domains to a contact, follow the procedure below.

  • Lookup the contact you wish to add the properties to and open it. Next, you're going to add additional properties to the contact. In this case, you will choose the .NO (Norid) option.Once you've selected the .NO properties, you'll be directed to the page where you can submit the requested information.

  • Submit the data as requested by the form and click save properties when you're done.
  1. Identity number: In this field, a Norwegian company number or the PID number from the applicant declaration has to be submitted.
  2. Version Number: In this field, the Applicant Version Number has to be specified. The current version number is '3.1'
  3. Accept name: In this field specify the name of the person who gives consent and is mentioned on the applicant declaration. Take note: When registering domains for a Norwegian company, make sure the person you specify in this field is authorized for the company and matches the name on the applicant declaration.
  4. Accept date: In this field, you specify the date and time on which the applicant declaration was issued. Be sure to specify the date and time in this format, otherwise, registrations and transfers will be rejected: 2018-12-31T23:59:59Z

Register

To create a .NO domain, follow the procedure below:

Norwegian registrant contact
  • Create a contact handle, or search for a contact handle already created with valid data to use for the create. For a detailed description of how to create a contact handle, check the contacts knowledgebase article.
  • Request a PID-number for domains registered on an individual basis. For companies, make sure you have a valid Norwegian company number. (skip this step if you already have a PID-number to use for the create).
  • Request an applicant declaration using the PID-number or Norwegian company number. (Skip this step if you already have an applicant declaration to use for the create)
  • Add additional properties for .NO (Nominet) to the Registrant contact.
  • Use the availability checker to determine if the domain is available. If the domain is available, select it to register using the green 'Select to register button' and confirm with the 'Register selected domains' button.
  • Submit the details you wish to use for registration. For in-depth support on the registration process, check the register domain(s) knowledge base article.

Realtime Register's local contact

  • Create a contact handle, or search for a contact handle already created with valid data to use for the create. For a detailed description of how to create a contact handle, check the contacts knowledgebase article.
  • Use the availability checker to determine if the domain is available. If the domain is available, select it to register using the green 'Select to register button' and confirm with the 'Register selected domains' button.
  • Submit the details you wish to use for registration. For in-depth support on the registration process, check the register domain(s) knowledge base article.

Transfer in

To transfer in a .NO domain, follow the procedure below:

Norwegian registrant contact
  • Create a contact handle, or search for a contact handle already created with valid data to use for the transfer, for a detailed description of how to create a contact handle, check the contacts knowledgebase article.
  • Request an applicant declaration using the PID-number or Norwegian company number belonging to the registrant. (Skip this step if you already have an applicant declaration to use for the transfer).
  • Add additional properties for .NO (Norid) to the Registrant contact.

Trade

To change the registrant for a .NO domain, follow the procedure below.

Norwegian registrant contact

  • Request an applicant declaration using the PID-number or Norwegian company number belonging to the registrant. (Skip this step if you already have an applicant declaration to use for the trade).
  • Add additional properties for .NO (Norid) to the Registrant contact.
  • Update the domain to the new registrant contact. For a detailed description of how to update domains through the Domain Manager, check the domain update knowledgebase article.

  • Update the domain to the new registrant contact, an acknowledgment of billables is needed for the use of our local contact. For a detailed description of how to update domains through the Domain Manager, check the domain update knowledgebase article.

Transfer out

To transfer out a .NO domain, you're going to need an authcode.

  • To obtain the authcode through the Domain Manager, login and go to 'Domains'. Lookup the domain you want to retrieve the authcode for.
  • Provide the authcode to the registrant and have him/her request the transfer with the new registrar.
