TLD metadata .IE (Ireland)

Create

Important

In case you already have an existing registrant contact with contact properties added to it for .IE domains to use for the create, you can skip to step 3.

1
Create a contact with the registrant contact data in it. For instructions on how to create a contact, go to the Create a new contact knowledgebase article.

Important

Registrant contact details cannot contain any abbrevations (eg. R. Register as registrant name or company name). The full name of the registrant or company name (eg. Realtime Register) has to be provided, otherwise the create will fail.

2

Add contact properties for .IE (IERegistry) to the Registrant contact. For instructions on adding contact properties for .IE to a contact, go to the Add properties section of this knowledge base article.

3
Request the create through our portal. For instructions on the create process, go to the Create domain(s) knowledge base article.
4
Once requested, the create will complete real-time and the domain will receive a server_hold status from the registry untill the connection to Ireland is proven through documents that have to be provided to the registry by the registrant. For more information on the document requirements and completing registrant verification for .IE, go to the registrant verification section of this knowledge base article.
5
Once the documents have been provided to the registry and are approved, the domain will start resolving.

Transfer in

Important

In case you already have an existing registrant contact to use for the transfer, you can skip to step 2.

1
Create a contact with the registrant contact data in it. For instructions on how to create a contact, go to the Create a new contact knowledgebase article.
2

Add contact properties for .IE (IERegistry) to the Registrant contact. For instructions on adding contact properties for .IE to a contact, go to the Add properties section of this knowledge base article.

3

Make sure you're in posession of a valid authcode and request the transfer through our portal. For instructions on the transfer process, go to the Transfer domain(s) knowledge base article.

4
Once requested, the transfer will complete realt-time.

Important

Take note that a registrant change during a transfer is not possible for .IE domains. To accomodate a smooth transfer process, we parse the registrant contact data active on the domain prior to the transfer from the registry once the transfer is completed. Upon completion, a autohandle is applied that contains the registrant contact data as it was registered with the losing registrar. In case you need to change the registrant through a trade once the transfer has been completed, go to the registrant change section of this knowledge base article.

Registrant change

Important

In case you already have an existing registrant contact to use for the create, you can skip to step 2.

3

Open the domain detail page of the domain you wish to request a regsitrant change for and request the update to the new registrant contact. For instructions on how to start the domain update process, go the Update domain(s) knowledge base article.

4

Once requested, the registrant change will be requested with the registry and receives a suspended status. A connection to Ireland is to be proven by the new registrant through documents that have to be provided to the registry. For more information on the document requirements and completing registrant verification for .IE, go to the registrant verification section of this knowledge base article.

5

Once registrant verification is completed, the registrant change will be completed.

Transfer out

To transfer out a .IE domain, you're going to need an authcode.

1
To obtain the authcode through our portal, login to the portal, go to the domain overview and lookup the domain you want to retrieve the authcode for.

2

Provide the authcode to the registrant and have him/her request the transfer with his/her new registrar.

Registrant verification

Important

Registrants for .IE domains need to prove a connection to Ireland in order to be able to register their domain. For more informaiton on the requirements for the registrant to be able to register .IE domains, refer to the registry website.

1
Once a .IE create/registrant change has been completed, the registry requires the registrant to provide supporting documents to proof their connection to Ireland. To this end, the created/traded domain is placed on a server_hold status by the registry untill supporting documents proving a connection to Ireland have been provided.

2
Our support staff will contact you through email and will ask you to provide documents to provide documents that verifiy the registrant contact data.
3
Provide the required documents to our support staff through email. In case an update of the registrant contact data is necessary, our support staff will provide instructions to do so. Once the correct registrant contact data is in place, the registry lifts the server_hold status and the domain starts resolving.
