Customize the contact validation email template

Login to the portal and go to Account > Branding

ℹ️ Note
The contact validation email is sent to registrants when validation of contact details is required by policy. This usually occurs after registering/transferring a domain, updating a registrant contact, or when a validation request is triggered manually. The contact validation email may list multiple domain names if the validation was triggered by multiple domains. This minimizes the number of validation emails sent to the registrant.

To customize the contact validation email through the portal, follow the steps below.

⚠️ Important
None of the default text in this email can be modified. Registry policies require registrants to receive a fixed set of information in the contact validation email.

Advice on email content
Since the default content cannot be changed, it is recommended to add explanatory text about why contact validation is required alongside the default text provided by our branding system. The explanatory text may differ from the language configured in the brand settings.
1
Select the brand you want to update and open the contact validation email template by clicking the edit button.

2
On the contact validation email template detail page, you can apply the required customizations.
⚠️ Important
The emails are available as both text-only and HTML email. If you want your registrants to receive text-only email, keep the HTML version empty. If you want to communicate using HTML email, fill in both the text version and the HTML version.

3
The default content of the contact validation email cannot be modified. Add explanatory text alongside the default text provided by our branding system describing why the registrant received the contact validation email.

4
The update preview button allows you to preview the submitted changes to the contact validation email template on the right side of the screen.
⚠️ Important
This email template contains multiple preview versions. A base preview exists for all TLDs with standard contact validation requirements. Additional previews exist for specific registry requirements, such as Cocca registry domains and .IE domains. When custom text or HTML is added, the changes will be applied to all preview versions of the template.

For an overview of Cocca TLDs, see the TLD metadata overview.
