Update a domain from a Basic DNS-zone to a Premium DNS-zone

There are two scenario's for updating domains to a Premium DNS-zone when a domain currently uses the Realtime Register Basic DNS-services. Keep in mind that only domains that are managed through Realtime Register can be To update a domain using a Basic DNS-zone to a Premium DNS-zone through our portal, follow the instruction below.

Update domain from basic DNS-zone to Premium DNS-zone with pre-configured Premium DNS-zone

1: Lookup the domain you wish to update to a Premium DNS-zone from a basic DNS-zone for which you've already created a Premium DNS-zone, open it and click Update

2: Scroll down to the Nameserver configuration section of the domain update page and select the Premium DNS-tile

3: Our system automatically recognizes the pre-configured Premium DNS-zone and provides a message that the existing Premium DNS-zone for the domain your updating will be adopted upon completing the update. Click confirm to confirm the update

4: On the update overview page, click Complete update to complete the update

5: A message indicating the domain was successfully updated will be displayed. The domain now has been updated to the pre configured Premium DNS-zone. On the DNS-tile information is given regarding the nameservers and the Premium DNS-zone that is now set for your domain

6: You've now successfully updated a domain from a Basic DNS-zone to a pre configured Premium DNS-zone using our portal

Update domain from basic DNS-zone to Premium DNS-zone without a pre-configured Premium DNS-zone

1: Lookup the domain you wish to update to a Premium DNS-zone from a basic DNS-zone, open it and click Update

2: Scroll down to the Nameserver configuration section of the domain update page and select the DNS-zone option and the Premium DNS-tile

3: Choose the method you wish to insert records with into the to be created Premium DNS-zone (Template or Master)

Template option

Important

In case you wish to create a Premium DNS-zone based on a DNS-template during the domain update, you need an existing DNS-template with the records you wish to set in the to be created Premium DNS-zone. In case you do not have a DNS-template with the correct records in it, go to the Create a DNS-template knowledge base article for instructions on how to create a DNS-template

Select the Template option and lookup the DNS-template you wish to use to create the Premium DNS-zone , select it and click Confirm

Master option

Important

In case you wish to create a Premium DNS-zone based on a hidden master, make sure master/slave replication is setup correctly, otherwise the DNS-records cannot be synced from the master nameserver to the to be created Premium DNS-zone. For more information on how master/slave replication is designed in the Realtime Register Premium DNS-services, go to the General documentation knowledge base article for DNS zones

Select the Master option and submit the IP-address of the (hidden) master in the input field, then click Confirm

4: Click Complete update on the update overview page to complete the update

5: A message indicating the domain update was successful will be displayed

6: You've now successfully updated a domain to a premium DNS-zone that was created during the domain update through our portal
