Check, cancel or resend a contact update/validation process

Login to the portal and go to Domains > Contacts

In case a contact update or validation process is pending, numerous actions on a contact handle cannot be executed because of the pending update/validation process. For most gTLD's contact validation is requested automatically once a create/transfer/update is requested. If a domain holds an inactive or pending validation status or a domain transfer seems to be stuck, always check if there are validation/update processes pending for the registrant contact used. We'll go over the pending update and validation statuses on a contact one by one in the instruction below.

Lookup the contact for which a contact validation process is pending and open it

In the contact shown above you notice both a validation and update process are pending, this is detailed by two blue bars, one indicating an update is pending and one indicating a validation process is pending. This means an email that needs to be approved to complete contact validation. In the blue bar indicating a validation process is pending, click View process. A detailed overview with the resume types available is given on the validation process detail page.

TIMER Indicates that in case the validation process is not completed in a registry specific time frame, the validation process will fail. Action is necessary to complete the validation process
RESEND Indicates that the option to re-send the contact validation email to the contact email address that needs verify the contact details is available
MANUAL Indicates manual action is necessary to complete the validation process, the owner of the email address specified in the contact needs to approve the validation email to complete the validation process
CANCEL Indicates that the validation process can be cancelled by the reseller that manages the contact for his/her client

In order to complete contact validation, the contact validation email needs to be approved. To resend the contact validation email, click Resend in the blue bar. To cancel the validation process, click cancel in the blue bar.

Important

The validation process will ultimately complete or fail. Completing the validation process can only be done by having the owner of the contact emailaddress in the contact you're validating accepting the contact validation email which looks like the email below;

The link in the above email directs the owner of the contact emailaddress to the below web-template on which contact details can be approved;

In case the contact validation is not completed per the above instruction, the contact validation process will fail after 15 days based on the timer resume type.

Once approved, cancelled or timed out, the contact validation process will have been completed or failed.
