Certificates with extended validation are validated on company data, the company details are visible in the SSL certificate and the company name is shown in a green address bar in the various browsers currently available.

The extended validated certificate provides more trust to the visitors of a website since visitors can directly see which company controls the website.

Validation:

Next to the domain validation, where the website owner needs to verify that they are in control over the domain where the certificate is requested for, the company data is also verified.

Through a public register such as the Dun and Bradstreet or the Dutch Chamber of commerce, the company data is verified and the organization is contacted through phone as well. There are also documents that needs be signed and sent to the CA.

When requesting an EV SSL-certificate five validation steps are necessary:

  • Company validation
  • WHOIS validation
  • EV documents
  • Phone Validation
  • Domain validation

Validation process

The validation process is generalized for all the Certificate Providers and is requested by a certified Certificate Authority (CA). We provide SSL-certificates provided by the 5 Certificate providers detailed below.
