Add Properties

In order to add properties for .IT domains to a contact, follow the procedure below.

• Lookup the contact you wish to add the properties to and open it. Next, you're going to add additional properties to the contact. In this case, you will choose the IT (Nicit) option.Once you've selected the .IT properties, you'll be directed to the page where you can submit the requested information.

• Submit out the data as requested by the form and click save properties when you're done.

1. Choose the entity type:

• For a natural person, choose option 1.
• For Italian based organizations please choose the one of the applicable options from 2 to 6.
• For EU based organizations outside Italy select option 7.

2. Add the identification number

• When chosen option 1, natural persons Italian and EU based; add the fiscal number of the person at the fiscal number entry.
• When chosen option 2 to 6, Italian based organizations; add the Italian VAT number (codice fiscale) at the fiscal number entry.
• When chosen option 7, foreign companies/organizations (EU based); add the VAT number at the fiscal number entry.

3. Select the nationality

• Select the nationality of the contact.
• For organizations, nationality must match the country.
• Either the contact's country or the nationality should be within the European Economic Area, the Vatican City, the Republic of San Marino or the Swiss Confederation.

4. Consent for publishing personal data

• Boolean value to allow the publication of contact's personal data, in case of registrant contacts other than natural persons, the value of this field must always be true.

Troubleshooting:

When adding additional properties for .IT domains, the error message 'State is required for .IT domains' might return when saving the properties to the contact you're adding them to.

This error refers to the state field of the contact you're adding the properties to. If there is no state submitted in the contact, the properties for .IT can't be added as this is required by the registry. Simply add the state to the contact you're adding the properties to and you are good to go.

Register

To create a .IT domain, follow the procedure below:

!!Take note!! The IT registry has very strict nameserver requirements. Make sure that:

1. You add the domain you're going to register to the nameservers you're using in the registration request prior to registering the domain.
2. Check the nameserver configuration after registration through the DNS check on the Nicit website. If any errors come up, the domain will be deleted after 30 days if the errors are not corrected.

• Now that the domain is added to the nameservers you're going to create or search for a contact handle already created with valid data to use for the create. For a detailed description of how to create a contact handle, check the contacts knowledgebase article.
• Add additional properties for .IT (Nicit) to the Registrant contact.
• Use the availability checker to determine if the domain is available. If the domain is available, select it to register using the green 'Select to register button' and confirm with the 'Register selected domains' button.
• Submit the details you wish to use for registration. For in-depth support on the registration process, check the register domain(s) knowledgebase article.

Transfer in

To successfully transfer in a .IT domain, follow the procedure below:

!!Take note!! The IT registry has very strict nameserver requirements. Make sure that:

1. You add the domain you're going to transfer to the nameservers you're using in the transfer request prior to requesting the transfer.
2. Check the nameserver configuration after the transfer through the DNS check on the Nicit website. If any errors come up, the domain will be deleted after 30 days if the errors are not corrected.

• Now that the domain is added to the nameservers you're going to create or search for a contact handle already created with valid data to use for the transfer. For a detailed description of how to create a contact handle, check the contacts knowledgebase article.
• Add additional properties for .IT (Nicit) to the Registrant contact.
• Make sure you're in possession of a valid authcode and request the transfer through the Domain Manager. For instruction on how to request a transfer through the Domain Manager, check the initiate transfer knowledgebase article.
• The current registrar has to accept the transfer. If no confirmation is given, the transfer will autocomplete after 5 days.

Trade

To successfully change the registrant for a .IT domain, follow the procedure below.

• Create a contact handle, or search for a contact handle already created with valid data to use for the registrant change. For a detailed description of how to create a contact handle, check the contacts knowledgebase article.
• Add additional properties for .IT (Nicit) to the new registrant contact.
• Update the domain to the new registrant contact. For a detailed description of how to update domains through the Domain Manager, check the update a single domain knowledgebase article.
• Once requested the registrant change will complete real-time.
